Local Talent

Check out some local talent sporting one of our cuts in this month’s Richmond Magazine! The author expected gentlemen “wearing outdated haircuts and ugly shirts.”

Not on our watch.

Congratulations to Mason and Fletcher! We expect great things out of The X.

As always,

it’s a great time to be an artist in Richmond. Congratulations to the recipients of the 2012-2012 VMFA Visual Arts Fellowships; to filmmaker Sonali Gulati, who has received a creative capital grant; and to Sonya Clark, who has received an impressive grant from United States Artists.

The links above will direct you to details about the awards and of information about only a few of the many remarkable artists that make Richmond a great place to be creative. I especially recommend checking out Sonali Gulati’s work. She is a remarkable filmmaker and was an eloquent advocate for VCU’s LGBTQ population in 2010, when the safety of this community in our state at at our schools was perhaps at its most precarious. We’re lucky to have her working and advocating locally.

Interested in keeping up with arts at VCU and around the city? Ester knows.
